Hello, my name is Dave Macleod. Working in the mountains is a passion of mine. I invite you to share that passion and allow my guides to teach you and lead you in achieving some of your challenges. Or, just experience a day in the mountains worry free.
Independent Mountain Guides (IMG) was formed in October 1996. It is a limited liability company and contracts guides and instructors to carry out a number of assignments.
The type of work we undertake ranges from mountain guiding and instruction, rockclimbing instruction, ski touring, snow shoeing, ice climbing, and ropes skills courses, to film and commercial work and location safety, rescue techniques, and Himilayan guided climbs.
I'm David Macleod, director of the company. I'm a member of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association and the NZ Outdoors Instructors Association. I am 51 years young and have a partner Katrina whom I've lived with for 13 years. Our daughter Aurora is a 'budding' climber! My passion is the mountains as a way of life and I'm is committed to that passion. I mountain bike and play the flute in what spare time there may be! Fatherhood is impending.
The future of IMG is to grow and support the local guides and instructors. To develop an excellent apprenticeship guiding/instructor training scheme and foster climbing/backcountry skiing/snowboarding in the Queenstown region.
