Rockclimbing is a fast growing activity that is fun, exciting, challenging, and very rewarding. With very skilled and qualified instructors, learning to climb is a very safe and enjoyable experience.
The cliffy schist outcrops in Queenstown are an excellent rock type for learner, intermediate and advanced climbing.
Close to the heart of downtown Queenstown IMG can offer you a course to suit your needs. Whether it be single pitch (one rope length) or multi pitch (several rope lengths) there is a huge variety of slabs, faces, walls and overhangs to test yourself on or learn in complete safety .We will supply all the equipment including rock shoes, harness, belay device, helmet, rope and other accessories needed.
Topics taught will be, sport climbing technique, safety checks and communication, knots, belaying and rope management, holding falls and lowering, abseiling (rapelling), prussicking and how to place natural protection.Trips commence at 8.45am and finish at 5pm. If the weather is inclement on the morning of your day we will delay the start and finish a little later.Transport is free of charge and you should bring your own lunch, plenty to drink, camera, clothing and footwear appropiate to the weather conditions on the day. Reasonable fitness is required.

Alpine Rock Climbing
IMG organise and teach multi pitch rock excursions in the Remarkables mountain range. These vary between single pitch trad and bolted lines to several pitches of the finest alpine rock in New Zealand. The scenery is fantastic, the climbing spectacular, and all only 1 hour from the car!
