Back Country Ski Touring & Snowboarding Trips

This is a special day spent skiing and or snow boarding in the back country of the Queenstown mountains. Access is via four wheel drive, cable car, or chair lift for sweat free elevation gain. From there energetic skinning and snow shoeing will gain yet more elevation for some very select steep and deep options or mellow bowls for the uninitiated. Fine views await the back country traveller of Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring, Mt.Earnslaw and the lush valleys of Central Otago.

You are in the company of a qualified ski/snowboard backcountry expert who will make all safety decisions regarding weather, avalanche risk, a selective choice of prime snow conditions available, and the right terrain for you and your group.

A day trip of this type will suit a strong intermediate skier/snow boarder to the expert who likes to venture into the back country but doesn't have the experience.

What we Provide

Backcountry skiers we provide skis, skins and dedicated touring bindings.
Backcountry Snowboarders IMG provides snow shoes and poles for your upward travel.
Along with this gear IMG also supplies a shovel, probe and avalanche transceiver, and a day pack if need be. We provide transport and lift passes if necessary.

What to Bring?

All customers need to have is their lunch and drink, their ski or snowboard boots, the correct clothing for the weather on the day and a spare pair of gloves and jacket. Remember sun glasses, and also some energy sustaining snacks (power bars, carbo shotz, chocolate, nutz etc.) to keep your energy levels up!

Day trips start here at 7.30am and return by 5pm approx.

ONE PERSON $400
2-4 PEOPLE $350 each

Bookings are essential the day before the trip commences, accompanied by a 50 % non refundable deposit
